Umps Health's platform, Umps Link, uses wearables, sensors, and AI to provide real-time insights into health and wellbeing declines. It connects users to 24/7 emergency response centres or caregivers when needed. Launched in 2023 after six years of research and development, the platform currently supports thousands of Australian households.

The company's origin was inspired by co-founder Adam Jahnke's experience when his grandfather, known as "Umps," was hospitalised after a fall. Dissatisfied with existing personal alarms, Jahnke and co-founder Geoff Ayre sought to create a better, more user-friendly solution that supports independence for older adults.

Umps Link addresses a critical challenge in Australia's aged care sector. By 2030, the country is expected to face a shortfall of over 100,000 aged care workers. The technology helps bridge this gap by enabling earlier and more proactive care, reducing hospitalisations that could have been prevented with timely support.

Designed alongside Victoria's largest aged care providers, Umps' products are available through key programs like the Home Care Package Program, Commonwealth Home Support Program, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). These initiatives collectively assist over 1.5 million Australians.

Breakthrough Victoria’s acting CEO, Lauren Morrey, highlighted the broader societal benefits of the technology, noting its role in providing older adults with more options to age with dignity while alleviating pressure on families and the economy. Acting Minister for Economic Growth Danny Pearson praised the investment, saying it will support healthier, independent lifestyles for older Victorians while creating local jobs.

The funds will be used to scale Umps' technology across Australia, accelerate market reach, and drive further research and development. The company expects to create up to 40 new jobs over the next two years. Regulatory filings show that Umps Health has raised a total of approximately $7.4 million to date.
