Cinven acquired a majority stake in Arcaplanet in 2022 and merged it with MaxiZoo Italia, Fressnapf's former Italian subsidiary. The combined Arcaplanet Group is now one of the largest omnichannel pet retailers in Italy and southern Europe.

Arcaplanet is expected to generate over €700 million in revenue in 2024. Since March 2022, its workforce has grown from about 2,000 to 3,000 employees. The company will continue to operate under its current structure and brand in Italy.

Under Cinven's ownership, Arcaplanet expanded its physical store network to over 560 locations in Italy. It also improved its digital presence and pet services, focusing on creating a seamless omnichannel experience for customers.

Nicolò Galante, CEO of Arcaplanet Group, said joining Fressnapf will accelerate growth opportunities and allow Arcaplanet to contribute to the wider group's success.

Fressnapf, founded and majority-owned by Torsten Toeller, has over 2,600 specialty stores across 14 countries. The combined Fressnapf-Arcaplanet group is expected to generate about €5 billion in gross turnover in 2024.

Cinven and Fressnapf aim to create the best and fastest-growing global omnichannel platform for pet care. Toeller will retain his majority ownership and role as Fressnapf Group chairman.

The deal's terms were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory and antitrust approvals.
