Baton, a music startup, aims to revolutionize how unreleased music is shared and managed. Founded by musician Gabe Warshaw, the company launched its private beta in 2022. Its platform is designed for artists, producers, managers, A&Rs, and catalog administrators. Baton's services include sharing unreleased music, sourcing new material, collaboration facilitation, and ensuring proper credit and compensation for creators.

One of Baton's primary objectives is to provide musicians with transparency over the use of their songs. Whether it's a full song, a single sample, or a pack, Baton enables creators to track individual access to their material, maintaining visibility throughout the collaborative process.

In addition to these features, Baton is developing a decentralized infrastructure to safeguard creators' intellectual property (IP) from theft. The platform also includes an automatic payout system for creators.

Gabe Warshaw, the CEO and founder of Baton, is deeply rooted in music. Raised in New York City's East Village by artist parents, Warshaw's engagement with music began at a very young age. His experiences as a professional musician and his exposure to the challenges faced by creatives led him to establish Baton. Warshaw is also known for founding the Brooklyn-based Prince Street Studios.

Baton has already made significant strides in the music industry. The platform claims to have facilitated connections between hundreds of artists and safeguarded the IP of thousands of songs. Notable clients include Grammy-winning producer DJ Dahi, who has worked with prominent artists like Kendrick Lamar and Drake, and A&R Sickamore, known for guiding the careers of Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott. Both DJ Dahi and Sickamore have praised Baton for its vision and impact on the music industry.

The funding round was led by BITKRAFT Ventures and saw participation from several investors, including Techstars, Dorm Room Fund, and others. The investment will enable Baton to not only strengthen its current offerings but also expand into a mixed-media collaboration and rights management ecosystem for visual artists, filmmakers, and designers, broadening its impact on the creative industry.
