Carlyle to Invest in Business Software Vendor GBTEC

Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG), a global investment firm, has announced a majority investment in GBTEC Software AG and its affiliates, a leading provider of business process management (BPM) and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) software. This strategic move aims to further accelerate GBTEC's growth, focusing on internationalization, sales & marketing, and product innovation. Gregor Greinke, GBTEC's founder, will continue as CEO and retain his status as the largest private shareholder.

GBTEC, a SaaS software provider in iBPM, DPA, and Process GRC, is distinguished by its modern, user-friendly products, driven by no-code and low-code technologies. With over 1,200 customers, including European and international blue-chip enterprises and public institutions, GBTEC employs around 300 people and has branches in Germany, Austria, Spain, and Australia.

Carlyle's investment will support GBTEC's management team in international expansion and product portfolio development, focusing on digital process automation and incorporating artificial intelligence. The equity will be provided by Carlyle Europe Technology Partners ("CETP") V, a €3 billion fund.

GBTEC's partnership with Carlyle marks a significant step in its growth journey. Michael Wand, Managing Director and Co-Head of the CETP investment advisory team, expressed confidence in GBTEC's potential in digital transformation and business process automation. Sven van Berge Henegouwen, Managing Partner at Main Capital Partners, highlighted GBTEC's impressive performance and strategic advancements in internationalization and product expansion under their partnership. Main Capital Partners, a specialized software investor, has sold its stake in GBTEC as part of this transaction.
