The acquisition of MyBestBrands, along with Bonsai's planned acquisitions of other comparison shopping sites in 2024, will form the Inspiration Commerce Group (ICG). The combined businesses aim to provide an unparalleled product discovery experience for shoppers and a single global distribution channel for merchants.

Bonsai's technology, combined with MyBestBrands' market presence, positions ICG to lead the comparison shopping market. The acquisition brings group revenues to over $30 million annually, with Bonsai set to be profitable this year.

Bonsai plans to begin courting private equity investors, as the company's emerging needs align with those experienced in M&A. The company's build-and-buy model and revenue profile make it an attractive prospect for private equity.

Bonsai's discovery commerce technology allows users to purchase products without leaving the webpage, providing an improved revenue alternative to intrusive ads for publishers and retailers. The company aims to simplify merchant interactions, similar to Expedia's role in the travel industry.

Comparison shopping sites remain a significant driver of revenue for merchants, having built trust with consumers and becoming more prevalent amid challenges in the ad market.

Bonsai's previous acquisitions include Shop It To Me and Stylight. The company raised C$21 million in Series A funding in 2022, led by Framework Venture Partners, and has raised approximately C$40 million to date.
